SCIENCE & ENVIRONMENT FILMS

Our environmental films have been shown at a variety of film festivals, such as the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 in New York. Do you want to create a film of your project or simply have a question?

In late 2020, Tom spent a few days with the NatureFiji-MareqetiViti Team on Taveuni here in Fiji to document their search for the Kulawai. The bird is endemic to Fiji and hasn't been seen for almost thirty years!

'My Fiji Shark' is the latest shark conservation initiative by Beqa Adventure Divers (BAD) with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). You can now directly support shark conservation initiatives by adopting one of the more than 5o named individuals. All profits will go 100% into scientific research and local initiatives that will benefit the resident shark populations.

FishAct is a grassroots NGO that fights illegal practices within the fishing industry and reports them to the responsible authorities. Being located in Europe their work mainly focusses on European fishing ports and FishAct (formerly known as The Black Fish) organized campaigns in Germany, Sweden, Italy, and Tunisia. The film lets the activists tell their story while on a fieldwork investigation in Italy, where the team looked into the illegal swordfish fisheries.

What do baby sharks have to do with climate change? Besides fishing, pollution and habitat destruction climate change is a major threat to sharks. Increasing ocean temperatures, as well as decreasing oxygen availability, affect all animal's physiology including sharks. The physioshark project specifically investigates how climate change impacts induced stressors affect baby sharks. Around the island of Moorea in French Polynesia, a team of scientists conducts several field and lab-based experiments to find out more about the early-life stages of blacktip reef sharks and sicklefin lemon sharks.
